Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?
So the question for today’s daily prompt is: write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had—what would you do differently?
Actually, I had a lot of times like that. Moments where I thought, okay, I should have done this, I should have said that, and so many “what ifs” kept running in my mind. I used to live in a loop… a kind of parallel world where I imagined, if I had done that, my life would have been different.
And honestly, that world felt dreamy for a while. But slowly, it started making me irritated and even a little depressed about the life I am actually living now.
After a long time—somehow—I managed to step out of that loop.
Now, I don’t sit and think, what if I had done that… No. It is over. Even if those thoughts come once in a while, I consciously avoid them. I don’t want to fall back into that cycle again.
That moment is done. That decision is done.
Yes, thinking like that may give a temporary relief—like imagining a better version of life—but that is not reality. I cannot undo my decisions. The life I am living right now is the result of everything I chose in the past.
Even now, I do have hard days. Emotional outbursts, breakdowns, days that feel heavy and overwhelming. But still, I know—I am living a blessed life. And I am thankful for that.
At that particular moment in the past, whatever I chose, I believed it was right for me. And even in the future, I may question the decisions I am taking today. But that’s okay.
Because at that time, that version of me made that choice with whatever understanding I had. That is also me. I cannot abandon myself or blame myself for it.
I know why I made those decisions.
So I don’t go back to that loop anymore—intentionally.
I feel like everyone should understand this. That “what if” world may feel good for a few moments, but it is not real. Living in reality requires strength. You have to move beyond that Maya.
Don’t go back.
Instead, think about your future. Think good about yourself. I have seen this in my own life—thoughts do become things.
I’m not saying you have to chase or attract everything. But being thankful for what you already have… it creates a different connection with the universe.
Going back to the past again and again?
It disconnects your energy. It distances you from your future.
For me, it feels like a waste of time now.
And that is what I felt when I read this question.
