Not Everything About Me Is Your Business

By

What’s something most people don’t understand?

There is something called

personal privacy and boundaries.

People say they understand it.

They say—

“I know my limits.”

“I respect your boundaries.”

“It’s your personal thing.”

But still…

They interfere.

They want to know more.

Especially about things

that are clearly private.

And I’ve noticed this—

People are very curious about

what is not their business.

I’m not saying this in a rude way.

But it’s true.

It took me time to understand this.

Because earlier, I used to get irritated.

I used to think—

“I am not asking about your life…

then why are you asking about mine?”

I’m not asking:

what you cooked what you wore what you decided

Then why this much interest in my personal space?

And when I don’t respond…

They feel offended.

They say—

“I am your family.”

“I am your friend.”

“I was there for you.”

But still…

Privacy is privacy.

Personal things

are personal.

No matter how close you are to someone—

There is a line.

And crossing that line…

is not care.

It is interference.

Sometimes, it even feels like—

what we teach children as

“good touch and bad touch”…

There is something similar in emotional space too.

Because going beyond someone’s boundaries

can disturb them.

Mentally.

Emotionally.

And this is something we don’t teach enough.

We teach discipline.

We teach manners.

But do we teach—

“This is not your space. Don’t enter.”

We should.

Especially in teenage and early adulthood.

Because people should know:

If someone says

“This is personal”—

That’s the end of it.

You don’t need more explanation.

And we should also learn to say—

“This is none of your business.”

Politely.

But firmly.

Another thing I’ve noticed—

Even when people know your boundaries…

They still try.

They still want to know

what’s happening in your life.

But that curiosity…

should not be encouraged.

Because not everything

needs to be shared.

For me…

I don’t interfere in others’ lives.

Because I know

how it feels

when someone interferes in mine.

If someone wants to share—

I listen.

If they don’t—

I don’t ask.

Simple.

Because honestly…

I have my own life to care about.

And putting energy into:

gossip unnecessary curiosity crossing boundaries

It drains you.

And it’s not right.

So yes…

If there’s one thing

most people don’t understand—

It’s this:

Not everything about someone is your business.

And learning that…

is basic respect.
