“Just Sitting at Home” Is Not Rest
Sometimes…
taking care of a baby—especially a toddler—
is exhausting.
Not in a visible way.
But in a constant, never-ending way.
And in those moments…
all you want is something very small—
just a little rest.
You wait for someone to come home.
A family member.
Thinking—
“Maybe now I can lie down for five minutes…”
“Maybe now someone else can hold the baby…”
But when you call and ask—
“When will you come?”
The answer is often—
“I’m busy… I’m working…”
“Let me come home first…”
“I’ve been doing so much…”
And sometimes…
there is another line—
“You’re just sitting at home.”
What People Don’t See
But this—
is not “just sitting.”
This is:
constant attention emotional presence physical exhaustion mental load
There is no break.
No pause.
No “off time.”
Even when you sit—
you are not resting.
Because your mind is still with the baby.
The Hardest Days
And some days are even harder.
Like during periods.
When your body is already tired.
When you just want to lie down…
for a few minutes.
But you can’t.
Because there is no one to take over.
And when you ask—
You are made to feel like:
👉 you are complaining
👉 you are weak
👉 you are not doing enough
💛 The Truth No One Says
But here is the truth—
👉 Mothers also need rest.
Needing a break
does not make you a bad mother.
Asking for help
does not make you less capable.
And taking five minutes for yourself—
👉 is not selfish.
It is necessary.
🌿 What Hurts the Most
It’s not just the tiredness.
It’s the lack of understanding.
The comparison—
👉 “Every mother does this.”
The dismissal—
👉 “This is normal.”
The judgment—
👉 “Why can’t you handle it?”
But every mother is different.
Every situation is different.
And every mother deserves support.
🌱 My Truth
I am not asking for luxury.
I am not asking for escape.
I am asking for—
👉 a little understanding
👉 a little support
👉 a little rest
Because I am human.
And I am a mother.
