If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
If I Could Be a Character…
If I am asked—
“If you could be a character from a movie or a book, who would you choose?”
The first name that comes to my mind is—
👉 Rukmini from Meesha Madhavan.
I remember watching that movie…
not once, not twice—
but almost four times in the theatre when I was around nine.
And somehow…
that character stayed with me.
Rukmini.
She felt…
simple.
Educated.
From a good family.
With loving, supportive parents.
And most of all—
👉 she marries the love of her life.
Her childhood friend.
There was something about that story—
that felt so peaceful.
No heavy struggles.
No visible trauma.
Just…
a soft, simple life.
And as a child, and even later—
sometimes I used to think—
👉 “If I could live as a character… maybe I would choose her.”
Because she felt…
lucky.
🌊 But Then I Pause
Now, when I think about it—
I realise something.
I don’t just connect with one character.
I see myself in many—
👉 heroines
👉 complex characters
👉 even the flawed ones
Because life is not one storyline.
It is layered.
And so am I.
🌱 My Real Answer
So if I have to answer honestly—
Yes, a part of me still says—
👉 Rukmini.
But another part of me says—
👉 “I choose my own life.”
Because it took me years…
to accept it.
To understand it.
To grow into it.
There were hardships—
physical mental emotional financial
But still…
👉 I feel blessed.
Not in a perfect way.
But in a real way.
I have learned to see goodness—
even in small things.
Even in difficult phases.
💛 My Truth
So no—
I don’t want to replace my life.
I don’t want to step into another story.
Because this life—
with all its imperfections—
👉 is mine.
And I am grateful for it.
