What’s a book you never finished but still think about?
There is one book I never finished but still think about.
The Oath of the Vayuputras by Amish.
The Shiva Trilogy is one of my favourite series, and I loved the first two books. But when I reached the final book, I stopped.
Not because I didn’t like it.
Perhaps because I liked it too much.
I knew what was coming. The battles. The mythology. The emotional chaos. The inevitable things that happen as the story moves towards its conclusion.
And somehow, I wasn’t mentally ready to go through all of it.
So I put the book down.
And I still haven’t finished it.
But the funny thing is, the book hasn’t really left me.
It is still sitting on my bookshelf.
Sometimes I look at it and almost imagine it asking me:
“When are you going to finish me?”
And I think my answer is:
“When I’m ready.”
Because perhaps some books don’t need to be finished simply because we started them.
Some books wait for the right version of us.
Maybe one day I’ll pick it up again. Maybe I’ll finally be ready to face the story, the battles, the emotions and the ending I already know is waiting for me.
Until then, it can stay where it is.
On my bookshelf.
Quietly waiting.
And perhaps that is okay too.
Some stories are not abandoned. They are simply waiting for us to become ready for them.
